I’m Nalini, marine bio and Nat Geo nerd. I’m earning my undergraduate degree at Georgia Tech in Environmental Science, minoring in Biomedical Engineering (BME). My current focus is on building international experiences and practical knowledge before graduate school in marine biology or ecology. I’m specifically interested in shallow-water ecosystems and the changing conditions from anthropogenic stresses.
I grew up in the Bay Area, California and attended Design Tech High School. At d.tech, I practiced design thinking and earned my Innovation Diploma doing a year-long project about the lack of common knowledge about female physiology and how it adversely affects female high school athletes.
Outside of the classroom, I love trail running, rock climbing, and generally being active and outside. I picked up slacklining recently and am enjoying the challenge of balancing on 5 centimeters of flat webbing a few feet off the ground.
This summer, I recently finished taking Microbiology and now am preparing for my semester abroad. Come Fall 2026, I’ll be an International Exchange Student at the University of Galway in Galway, Ireland. I’ll also be continuing contributing to the Great Reef Census as a citizen scientist.
One thing that’s really important to me is gaining as much practical experience as I can while in college. I want to spend as much time abroad as possible, taking advantage of GT’s exchange and study abroad programs during the academic year, and pursuing internships and research opportunities over the summers. I’m always looking for new opportunities and connections in any related fields.
